Join us for a fantastic Coptic Book Binding Workshop at Ely Museum with Helen Handmade Books
The historic and beautiful ‘coptic’ binding allows the book to lie perfectly flat, making it popular amongst other things as a journal, travel book or artist sketch book.
The exposed spine stitching has enormous visual appeal.
During this one day class you will learn about the importance of the grain of the paper and boards in bookbinding and how to identify the grain direction.
How to prepare the pages for binding, covering your boards from a selection of beautiful decorative papers before getting to grips with the stitching.
Suitable for beginners, all materials and equipment will be provided. Refreshments available.
