POSTPONED TO 2023 – Upton Viking Festival

The Upton Viking Festival is a celebration of Viking life on the Wirral. We aim to recreate the settlement, led by Noreseman Ingimund in 902ad through a Viking encampment and will enjoy entertainment, history and competitions that both excite and engage the community.
After postponing 2021, 2022 will be our second year and once again, we’ll be in the wonderful Warwick Park in Upton. Entry for the festival is FREE but some of the attractions will charge a small fee.
During the weekend we’ll enjoy wonderful Viking themed activities including a living history Viking Encampment with MORE Vikings, Axe Throwing and Archery (both of which YOU can get involved), Birds of Prey, battle re-enactments along with Viking demonstration and crafts.
We’re doubling up on history too, Wirral Archaeology will be displaying the first public showing of recent Wirral Viking relic and finds and will also be running a ‘Relic Roadshow’ for YOUR curiosities to be appraised.
We’ll have MORE great food and craft stalls too (some Viking themed) plus Friends of Warwick Park and the Upton Village Community Group will provide family entertainment and games. We’ll also have a great children’s fun fair with rides and attractions plus donkeys for the children to ride too.
We’ll also have MORE parking this year too with up to 300 FREE off road places available to the public.
Competition wise, come dressed as a Viking and the best dressed will win a prize! We also have a shield making competition and scarecrow competitions too.
